Biography
Helen Davies (b.1993) Manchester, UK.
With a commitment to the view that “we’d love our bodies more, if we looked at ourselves like a work of art” my work focuses on the human form with levels of both intimacy and vulnerability. It’s my aim to capture the raw beauty of skin, because every blemish is a story, not to be filtered or shamed for. I use painters techniques with dry materials, mainly graphite and pastel, to create soft portraits - mixing old masters techniques with contemporary intimacy. My current work is a continuation of the battle to reflect intimacy without being censored, as is so frequent for the female-presenting form.
